Journal of Indian Orthodontic Society is the first official publication of the Indian Orthodontic Society starting its publication run from 1968 originally having a bi-annual publication schedule. The Indian Orthodontic Society is the first speciality organization of Dentistry i.e. Orthodontics in India which was founded in 1965 by seven founder members. The journal follows a double blind peer review system and is published on a quarterly basis. The journal has an open access policy and each article accepted by peer review is made freely available online immediately upon publication, is published under a Creative Commons license and will be hosted online in perpetuity. Additionally, in an effort to promote scientific publishing, the journal does not charge an article processing charge from its authors. The journal primarily caters to the needs of the orthodontic community and occasionally other disciplines through various multi-disciplinary publications (invited and otherwise). It boasts of a world-wide renowned authorship base culminating in cumulative scientific publishing spanning over 50 years. It also has a good circulation in the Indian Sub-continent and the South-East Asia region and aims to expand its presence and readership on a global scale and thereby striving to be one of the most revered periodicals in Orthodontics.
