Africa Spectrum is published by the Institute for African Affairs of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) in Hamburg. It is a double-blind, peer-reviewed Open Access journal dedicated to promoting scientific knowledge on politics, societies, and development in Africa, as well as Africa’s role in the international system. As a multidisciplinary journal, Africa Spectrum welcomes submissions employing a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches. Africa Spectrum prioritises the publication of manuscripts with significant new empirical material and/or significant new theoretical contributions. In addition to original research articles, Africa Spectrum also publishes analytical reports, debate articles, review articles, and book reviews.
